Played in bands in the 80s and 90s (while quite young, mind), rejoicing in such names as Dirty White Funk, smotherparty (yes,
that small-case 's' was deliberate) and Brainfood. An album of smotherparty recordings ("Is That The Time?") was released
in 2001.
Then there was the busking. Oh yes, lots of miserable, cold, wet busking. Plectrum taped to thumb when it got too cold to
keep your grip ... happy days. You can never go back.
Since 2005, I've been gigging in the U.S.A (on trips in 2006 and 2007), played at various venues across Glasgow, supported
Tony McPhee of The Groundhogs, and have been involved in various studio projects, including several short film soundtracks
and recording in Dublin. An EP of new recordings - 'broke, lonely and guilty' - was released in 2008.The acoustic set is
pitched somewhere between old-school acoustic blues and a more contemporary singer/songwriter dealy ("alt.blues"? Probably,
yes). When armed with an electric guitar and a rhythm section, you get more of the same but heavier, harder, whatever. Subject
matter/outlook leans towards 'dark'.
